RECRUITING PROCESS

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, meaning you can apply at any time. To apply, please use the forms below for the teams that interest you. This process allows us to efficiently track and manage your application. While we accept applications year-round, we typically recruit at the beginning of each academic year.

After submitting your application, we will reach out to you to schedule an interview. Please note that this step may take from a few weeks up to two months, depending on the timing of your application.

Following the interview, we will take some time to carefully consider your application and will inform you of the outcome as soon as possible.

MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION

What you can expect from each sub-team:

MECHANICAL

• Take lead on designing major parts of the rover from sections of the drivetrain to the arm in Solidworks
• Collaborate with other members and our manufacturers to review designs for function or manufacturing 
• Get hands on experience with various tools required to manufacture parts in-house and for assembly
• Work with other teams such as Electrical, Software, and Science to ensure requirements are being met during design

ELECTRICAL

• ​Take lead on designing PCBs in Altium to serve different functions and requirements of the rover, such as arm or drivetrain control
• Collaborate with other members to review designs for function, manufacturing (Fab/PCBA), or test
• Get hands on experience with board bring-up from basic electrical checks to working with software to develop code for various parts of the board
• Get hands on debugging experience using various lab tools such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, lab bench supplies, electronic loads and more
• Gain exposure to high-voltage applications, RF, battery, and communications through performing board respins and testing designs
• Work with other teams such as Mechanical, Software, and Science to ensure requirements are being met during design

SOFTWARE

• Develop key parts of the rover's software modules under a ROS framework from SLAM to controls for drive/arm/science systems
• Develop firmware for various sensors, communication modules, and boards designed by the Electrical team
• Work to refactor and improve existing code base to implement optimizations and exploring various libraries
• Work with other teams such as Electrical, Mechanical, and Science to ensure requirements are being met during design

SCIENCE

• Design and conduct experiments in a lab-based setting to investigate extinct life, extant life, terraforming capability, and more
• Work closely with other teams to create on-board soil collection and testing systems
• Document geological landscapes and notable soil features observed during the competition, while comparing and contrasting Martian and Terrestrial terrains
• Work with other teams such as Electrical, Mechanical, and Software to ensure requirements are being met during design

GRAPHIC DESIGNER

What you can expect:

• Create posts for social medias, work on updates, and maintain public image
• Communicate with Team Leads and general members
• Use MMRT branding theme and standards

Requirements:

• Meticulous and keen on organization is a must 
• Interest in Graphics Design and creating cool art
• Creative and loves art and design
• Interest in technology, robotics, space or science.
• Experience with Canva, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator is an asset
