CAD Rendering

The Canadian rover community relies on collaborative learning, and MMRT is no different. Here, you can find examples of our team's CAD renders on Fusion360's platform. You can watch our team's design progress and learn about the different parts!

Custom Rubber Tires

Traction being one of the most important variables when moving the rover, we taken the wheel design into great consideration. This year we have 3D printed out wheels with a special plastic capable of having the perfect amount of elasticity and rigidity.

Custom Rocker-Boogie System with Differential

Incorporating NASA's proven Rocker-Boogie System we have designed the system with a differential bar allowing us to overcome obstacles and keep the chassis safe.

Custom Chassis and Housing for Electronics

​This year the chassis was completely redesigned to optimize size, weight and strength. Critical features of the chassis were designed to have rectangular tubing so it could support a greater load whereas the other features were designed with L-beams. The chassis will be manufactured out of aluminum and welded together. After spending many hours working away at the design, the chassis is now able to hold all electrical components in an organized manner and support all other systems of the rover while still looking great!

Custom Arm with 6 DOF and able to manipulate 5 kg objects

​​The Mars Rover has a robotic arm module that can be used for various tasks such as dragging payloads, holding tools, and manipulating objects. The arm uses 6 motors and 5 degrees of freedom (DoF) in order to simulate the range of mobility a human arm has and more. With a reach of over 1 meter and a lifting capacity of over 5kg, the arm is able to handle a variety of tasks that may be thrown at it.

Automated Science Module

The science module is currently being updated and we are working on a more updated design. The module will be able to run experiments autonmously on the rover. The experiments will be able to detect file in soil samples and its composition.
